My Reasons to Celebrate December 2022

A joyful December to Celebrate

IT’S BOOK LAUNCH MONTH

Hello, Friends,

It’s been a long trying year, but the end is near. As some of you know, I was offered a book deal with The Wild Rose Press in February. The manuscript I sent them was written several years ago. I had stowed it away, never bothering to send it out into the world. I’m funny that way. I tend to do things in my own time. When I was ready, I pitched the story to an editor. She liked it, and sent it to the review committee. A short wait later, The Wild Rose Press offered me a contract.

Since then, the electronic file I emailed to the editor has been made into a young adult, contemporary, suspense novel. My publisher and several online retailers launched Run Girl Run on 14 December 2022. That’s officially my book’s birthday.

Run Girl Run released 14 Dec 2022

Becoming a published author is a dream come true, and it’s a reason to celebrate. I’m blessed. But commemorating this milestone doesn’t mean the work ends. It’s just starting. Writers must promote their books.

Blogging, and other social media posts get the word out. No one will buy a book they don’t know about. And it’s my responsibility to spread the word.

Those of you who know me personally understand that I’m more reserved than extroverted. As time goes on, I’ve been leaping over those hurdles, too. I’ve joined different platforms. The other participants have welcomed me with open arms. That has meant a lot. It wasn’t easy for me to step out of my comfort zone.

December has always been a month for family, religious ceremonies, and friends. This holiday season I’m grateful for the success and friendships I’ve built over the past year. I’m also grateful for my shortcomings because each one has taught me something new.

As I write this, it’s freezing outside. I hope you’re all safe and warm. If you are and have pets, please remember them, and welcome them indoors. My fat and sassy cats double as heating pads. I need them. It looks like a 70% chance for snow soon. A white Christmas? Perhaps.

When the ole north wind blows, I love to wrap myself in a blanket in front of the fireplace. Once toasty, I read a good book. During winter, that’s my favorite pastime.

We have less than two weeks before we toss the old tattered calendar and hang a new glossy one. Ha, I’m already collecting them. Until the year rolls over, I will be reflecting on all the good that has come to me. I wish you the best during this holiday season and a fabulous 2023.
